Everything we do is about supporting people at the most vulnerable times of their lives, whether that’s an older person needing care and connection, or a family working through tough times.

PSC has two well-known service brands that lie at the heart of our mahi:

  • Enliven: our positive ageing services that create age-friendly communities where older people have companionship, choice, fun, and purpose.
  • Family Works: our social services supporting children and whānau through counselling, social work, life-skills and parenting programmes and safety services.

Residents tell us they enjoy the home-like environment, strong community connections and fantastic recreation programme – Cashmere Home is known for its fantastic cultural days and special events. The Cashmere Home team is committed to ensuring the elders of Cashmere Home have top quality healthcare, as well as companionship, spontaneity, fun, meaningful activity and a sense of purpose in their lives.

Mō te tūranga  - About the role

As a Laundry Worker, you will play an important role in supporting the comfort, dignity, and wellbeing of our residents. By ensuring clothing and linen are clean, well cared for, and returned promptly, you help create a homely and welcoming environment for the people who live in our home.

You will be responsible for a variety of laundry duties, including maintaining records related to residents’ laundry and distributing clothing and linen.

In this role, you will:

  • Carry out daily laundry tasks and routines in an efficient and timely manner
  • Operate a range of commercial laundry machines and equipment
  • Complete laundry processes such as washing, drying, ironing, folding, and returning residents’ clothing and linen
  • Work independently while also contributing to a supportive team environment

This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys being part of a team, and values contributing to the wellbeing of older people.

Mō koe - About You

Alongside a genuine passion for supporting the wellbeing of older people, you will be enthusiastic, patient, and well organised, with strong interpersonal skills. You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect, and take pride in contributing to a warm and welcoming environment for our residents.

Previous experience in a rest home, hospital, or hospitality environment is an advantage, but not essential. We are happy to support the right person to learn the skills needed for the role.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Respect for the diverse cultural backgrounds of residents, colleagues, and families/whānau
  • The ability to follow instructions, manage multiple tasks, and work both independently and as part of a team
  • A commitment to health, safety, and good hygiene practices, and an understanding that you are working in our residents’ home.
  • Experience in laundry or cleaning services within a residential, hospital, or hospitality setting
  • Knowledge of commercial laundry processes and infection control (or willingness to learn)

What’s in it for you?

  • Annual staff wellbeing activities, focusing on different aspects of personal health and wellbeing
  • Certainty in your hours with set rosters, along with some flexibility where possible
  • Access to discounted health insurance and an Employee Assistance Programme
  • A progressive pay scale that recognises your ongoing learning and development
