We are looking for a full-time Land Information Advisor on a fixed term contract for two years who can carry out and manage data entry of farm plan mapping and works jobs into Horizons Sustainable Land Management Initiative (SLUI) geodatabase. This role is based in Regional House in Palmerston North and is primarily office-based however, we also want someone who could identify and interpret erosion features and erosion control plantings or retirements out on farms in order to be able to accurately digitise the environmental works back in the office, or someone who is willing to develop these skills.
Familiarity in the GIS environment, spatial accuracy, organisation and attention to detail are important in this position. This is because the position supports accurate reporting of the progress and outcomes of the SLUI and other Land Team programmes as well as the provision of up-to-date information to Land Management Advisors in the field. You will also provide support or advice to Land Management Advisors on using the Land Teams’ information systems.

You will have a relevant tertiary qualification (such as geosciences or agriculture) plus relevant experience or an undergraduate certificate or diploma plus relevant experience, and a full class 1 driver licence. As well as having sound technical knowledge you will have good communication skills and be able to deal with a range of customers. You will have the ability to build strong relationships with staff and landowners and have a positive and friendly attitude. Being familiar with Horizons’ major work programmes and having knowledge of Local Government processes and procedures would be beneficial.
