Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our School of Primary Industries, Viticulture and Wine team at EIT | Te Pūkenga, based at our Taradale Campus. The 0.5 FTE part time role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratories, supporting teaching and research activities, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $54,210.00 and $67,763.00, dependent on skills and experience.

You will report to the Laboratory Manager and will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and supervising laboratory equipment for teaching purposes.
  • Assisting staff and students with research projects and analytical methods.
  • Maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment and facilities.
  • Managing stock control and ordering supplies.
  • Supporting the development of laboratory teaching programmes.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • High specialist knowledge of laboratory tools and equipment.
  • Proficiency in advanced analytical laboratory equipment.
  • Practical and theoretical scientific background in chemistry and at least one other area.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Well-developed oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and a current driver’s licence (essential).
