About the Role

We are looking for a permanent part-time Kitchen Hand to join the team at LUCK Venue in Palmerston North.

You will support the Kitchen Coordinator with breakfast and lunch duties and provide cover when the Kitchen Coordinator is away. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and serving food 
  • Cleaning and sanitising kitchen and food-preparation areas 
  • Washing dishes, peeling vegetables and portioning ingredients 
  • Following food-safety regulations and MASH procedures 
  • Monitoring stock and minimising food wastage 
  • Supporting volunteers involved in kitchen and food-service activities 
  • Helping to meet the nutritional needs and individual preferences of service users 

This position is for 20 hours per fortnight, working Monday to Friday from 8am to 10am.

LUCK has been part of the Palmerston North community for over 20 years. It provides a space where people can connect with others, access support and experience a sense of belonging.

LUCK provides resources, workshops, activities and outreach services. Its facilities help people meet basic needs through access to showers, breakfast, cooked lunches, kai packs, computers, phones, and pre-loved clothing and household items.

LUCK sits under the umbrella of MASH Trust, which provides support services across the disability, mental health and social sectors in the Lower North Island.

We’re Looking for Someone With:

  • Experience in a kitchen or food-service environment 
  • Cooking experience and knowledge of food hygiene and safety requirements 
  • Relevant food-related qualifications and a recognised food hygiene certificate 
  • Strong communication, customer-service and teamwork skills 
  • The ability to work independently and under pressure 
  • A current full New Zealand driver licence 
  • A current First Aid Certificate is preferred
