Mō te tūranga - About the role
We are looking for a Kitchen Hand to work 42 hours per fortnight working as per the below rostered hours:
- Week 1 Wednesday 06:00am – 13:30pm; Saturday 11:30am – 19:00pm; Sunday 11:30am – 19:00pm
- Week 2 Monday 06:00am to 13:30pm; Wednesday 06:00am – 13:30pm; Sunday 11:30am – 19:00pm.
As a Kitchen Hand, you will be responsible for assisting the Food Services Team Leader to prepare and serve tasty and nutritious meals for lunch and dinner.
Confidence in the kitchen with meal preparation is important along with the following:
- Prepare morning and afternoon tea, as well as daily meals
- Ensure dinning area is cleared after Elders have finished their meals
- Ensure meals are served at the appropriate size and temperature
- Maintain daily food and fridge temperature checks
- Operate within food hygiene standards and protocols
- Be considerate of residents during mealtimes and ensure their needs are met appropriately
As there will be a requirement to carry out meal preparation, some flexibility regarding daily duties will be expected to meet the needs of the kitchen.
Mō koe - About you
As well as a passion for the wellbeing of our elders, you will be enthusiastic but patient and well organised with great interpersonal skills. You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect. You will also have:
- Experience working in a kitchen (preferred)
- Good communication skills and have a person-centred approach
- Knowledge and understanding of food hygiene and food safety standards
- If you hold a food safety/hygiene certificate, that would be great but if you don't have one we can train you in what you need to know
- Enjoy being able to contribute to the work of your team and how this impacts the experiences of our residents
