 Shalom Aged Care is a privately owned/operated Boutique Aged Care Provider with over 50 years Resthome experience in the care of the elderly. We and our staff love making our residents feel loved and well cared for in a safe and pleasant environment. Is this the kind of atmosphere you would love to work in?

Having effective communication skills with older persons is essential to ensure the highest level of care for our residents. This position requires you to be able to work rostered shifts (daytime only) seven days per week. 

You will:

· Be reliable and friendly with good work ethics.

· Work well within a team and with other staff.

Basic Food Preparation Skills, possibly covering the cook on occasion

  • Setting up and packing down & cleaning dining room before and after service
  • Ready to start immediately
  • Great attitude, productive - working at a fast-paced level
  • Ensuring meals are served on time and in a hygienic and desirable manner.
  • Ensuring all dishes and utensils are clean and hygienic.
  • Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy in accordance with our own standards and those of the regulatory authorities.
  • Maintaining positive interactions with residents

· Experience in a similar role would be an advantage but not essential.

· Hold a valid Covid-19 vaccine passport – proof required

Skills & Experience

 Kitchenhands need to have: knowledge of cleaning methods and chemicals. knowledge of kitchen safety and food hygiene. skill preparing food and using kitchen equipment

  Maintenance of a hygienic kitchen & dining room

- Properly washed and sterilised dishes.

- Clean benches, tables and utensils.

2. Safe food handling practices

- Wearing gloves for food preparation

- Correct storage of leftover food.

3. Compliance with administrative policies

- Punctuality

- Professional appearance wearing correct uniform

- Observance of smoking policy

- Compliance with this facility’s rules.

4. Personal qualities

- Physical fitness

- Ability to work without supervision

- Empathy with the elderly.

5. Qualifications and experience

- Previous stable work experience

- Any other duties relevant to kitchen hand as may be determined by the manager or cook.

- Good infection control principles.

- Safe Food Handling certificate - not essential to hold
