Niagara is a proudly NZ-owned and operated sawmill, manufacture and distributer with over 80 years’ experience in the business and is at the forefront of the sawmilling industry.  Niagara produces superior radiata pine and timber products for indoor and outdoor building applications in national and international markets.

Niagara has an exciting opportunity for a hard working individual to take on the full-time position of Kilns Operator at our Kennington site.

This role is on a roster of two 12 hour days, two 12 hour nights then four days off - this roster allows you to balance work and other lifestyle commitments. 

The position involves: 

  • Driving a 8 tonne forklift to load and unload timber into the kilns
  • The loading and unloading of trucks
  • Drying timber in the kilns according to production requirements and schedules
  • Monitoring the kiln operations and data entry
  • Operation, maintenance and cleaning of the Boiler

Relevant experience is desirable, but not essential. To be considered for the role you must have previous experience driving 7 and 8 ton Forklifts and either hold a current approved Forklift license or F endorsement.  Ideally you will also posses the following key attributes:

  • Self-motivated, reliable and able to work unsupervised
  • Responsible & trustworthy
  • Mechanically minded and practical
  • Safety focused
  • Good computer literacy
