Focus: Ākonga Wellbeing, Cultural Responsiveness, and Holistic Success
Are you passionate about empowering learners, removing systemic barriers, and creating an environment where every ākonga can thrive?
We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and strategic Wellbeing Coordinator to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will triage support needs, design impactful initiatives and ensure that every ākonga - especially Māori, Pasifika, and disabled ākonga - has equitable access to the resources, professional care, and support networks they need to achieve their full potential.
As the Wellbeing Coordinator, you will sit at the heart of our learner support ecosystem. You will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and triaging complex wellbeing needs, ensuring swift and effective intervention before barriers impact learning success. This role is an opportunity to lead proactive, data-informed wellbeing initiatives that enhance both the physical and mental health of our community.
Guided by a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, you will embed the values of whanaungatanga (relationship building) and manaakitanga (care and hospitality) into every aspect of your practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Triage and Holistic Support: Evaluate and triage individual learner support needs, connecting ākonga with internal resources, community partners, and professional health and pastoral services.
- Culturally Responsive Programming: Design, implement, and evaluate wellbeing initiatives that celebrate diversity and cater specifically to the holistic needs of Māori, Pasifika, and learners with disabilities.
- Data-Informed Strategy: Utilise quantitative and qualitative data to identify emerging trends in learner wellbeing, measure the impact of support programs, and continuously improve service delivery.
- Barrier Removal: Identify and address systemic, physical, and mental health barriers that hinder academic achievement, retention, and positive learner experiences.
- Te Tiriti in Action: Foster a culturally safe and inclusive environment by embedding Te Tiriti-centred principles across all wellbeing frameworks, policies, and daily interactions.
- Collaboration & Advocacy: Work closely with educators, support staff, external agencies, and whānau to advocate for ākonga needs and foster a wraparound support network.
What Will You Bring:
- Cultural Competency & Commitment: A deep understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice, with a proven ability to uphold whanaungatanga and manaakitanga.
- Equitable Focus: A demonstrated passion for supporting Māori, Pasifika, and disabled learners, along with an understanding of the unique strengths and barriers relevant to these communities.
- Triage & Case Management Experience: Proven experience assessing complex needs, managing crisis or high-priority support situations, and navigating care pathways.
- Data Literacy: Comfort using data to track outcomes, spot trends, and justify strategic decisions for new wellbeing programs.
- Empathetic Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust quickly with diverse ākonga, whānau, and colleagues.
- Proactive Problem Solving: A forward-thinking mindset focused on building resilience, physical wellness, and mental health awareness across the learning community.
Why Join Us?
We offer a collaborative, values-driven work culture where your contributions directly transform lives. You will be part of a team that celebrates diversity, prioritises holistic health, and actively works to build an equitable educational environment.
