About Us: Based in beautiful Whanganui Te Oranganui is a kaupapa Māori organisation who offers a range of health and wellbeing services for whānau in the Whanganui region and surrounding districts. Te Waipuna Health is the General Practice arm with an enrolled population of 5,000 spread across two Practices. As a low-cost access health centre, we offer a newly refurbished Practice in a supportive and flexible environment.  

About The Role: In this role, you will champion a whānau-centred approach, working closely with whānau to improve helping patients gain the knowledge skills, tools and confidence to become active participants in their healthcare so that they can reach their self-identified goals and aspirations.  

A key focus will be fostering tino rangatiratanga and empowering whānau to their own mana motuhake throughout their journey.

Using a Whānau ora approach work along side the collaboratively to develop active partnerships with patients motivating them to make positive lifestyle changes, reduce high-risk behaviours, manage stress and improve their health and wellbeing. In addition you will have a key role in building the confidence and capability of the general practice team to meet the needs of people experiencing mental health and/or alcohol and other drug (AOD) concerns.  

To thrive in this role, you will:

  • Be experienced in working with whānau and have      experience working in primary care
  • Have strong communication, advocacy, and      relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to upholding the mana and      aspirations of whānau through Whānau Ora principles.
