This is a 12 Months Fixed Term Role.

Based in beautiful Whanganui Te Oranganui is a kaupapa Māori organisation who offers a range of health and wellbeing services for whānau in the Whanganui region and surrounding districts. 

Toiora Whānau is a branch of the organisation that uses a Whānau Ora approach to work intensively with whānau on their goals leading towards positive outcomes. The team walk alongside whānau to navigate pathways in areas such as health, education, housing, employment, welfare and justice.

About the role:

The key to Whānau Ora is an inclusive approach that embeds the organisations Kaupapa Ake principles of practice and values. This fixed term role primarily focuses on the strengths and capability of the whānau, growing whānau connections, supporting the development of whānau leadership and enhancing best outcomes for whānau. The role can have both a prevention and intervention focus leading to whanau that are self-managing and leading healthy lifestyles.

Whānau Ora services place whānau at the centre of nurturing outcomes to be;

  • self-managing; 
  • living healthy lifestyles; 
  • participating fully in society; 
  • confidently participating in Te Ao Māori; 
  • economically secure and successfully involved in wealth creation; and 
  • cohesive, resilient and nurturing. 

We are looking for someone with a lot of energy who can work unsupervised and with a diverse range of people, some creativity and innovation in how to support whānau to achieve their dreams and aspirations.

About you

The perfect candidate will have:

  • A commitment to ensuring best practice when working with whānau
  • A passion for delivering high quality experiences for whānau and kaimahi
  • Great communication, advocacy, and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to demonstrate a commitment to upholding the mana and aspirations of whānau through Whānau Ora principles.
