Te Pae Oranga is a community-based restorative justice initiative that provides an alternative pathway for low to medium level offending. Delivered in partnership with iwi, community and New Zealand Police, the programme supports participants to take responsibility for their actions, restore harm, and address the underlying causes of offending while working towards positive change.
As the Kaitūruki – Te Pae Oranga, you will play a key role in leading and coordinating the delivery of this kaupapa across the rohe. This includes facilitating Te Pae Oranga panels (Hui Matua), engaging with participants and their whānau, and supporting them through their journey from referral to completion.
You will work closely with iwi, New Zealand Police, and a range of community providers to ensure culturally grounded, whānau-centred service delivery. A core part of the role is supporting participants to develop and follow through on action plans that address the drivers of offending and connect them to appropriate supports and services.
The role also involves coordinating panel processes, supporting and maintaining relationships with panel members, and ensuring the smooth operation of panel delivery across the region. Strong collaboration and communication are essential, as you will be working alongside multiple agencies and stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes for whānau and communities.
In addition, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, completing reporting requirements, and contributing to quality improvement processes. This includes using systems such as Ara Whānui to track participant progress and ensure service delivery aligns with organisational and contractual expectations.
This is a dynamic and meaningful role that requires strong facilitation and organisational skills, the ability to build trusted relationships, and a commitment to kaupapa Māori and Whānau Ora approaches. You will bring the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with a focus on achieving positive outcomes for whānau and communities.
If you are passionate about supporting people to make positive change, enjoy working in a collaborative and culturally grounded environment, and want to contribute to safer, stronger communities, this role offers a unique and rewarding opportunity.
This is a fixed term role ending 30 June 2027.
