Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role 

This is a permanent, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. The role of Kaiāwhina is to provide pastoral support and mana enhancing experiences that lead to increased ākonga success. Kaiāwhina support students with formal applications related to study, class delivery and connecting ākonga to support each other. We would like to hear from you if you have demonstrated experience in mātauranga Māori or Pacific Indigenous knowledge systems, alongside strengths in one-on-one support and event delivery. You will work closely with Te Kete Manaaki student support teams, Wintec support and faculty staff, external partners, and Te Tiriti partners to ensure coordinated, equitable support for priority learners.

  • Passion for ākonga success 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: including the ability to listen actively, empathise, use reason when dealing with emotional topics and provide reflective feedback 
  • Is a capable planner who monitors and reports on progress 
  • Encompass creative problem-solving capabilities 
  • Will enhance Wintec’s strategic relationships with iwi, hapū, whānau and Māori communities 
  • Evidence of sensitivity to and respect for learners with disabilities 
  • Is up for a challenge and thrives on working on new and collective solutions
