Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi — About the Role

We are seeking a passionate Kaiārahi – Mātauranga Māori Teaching Mentor to join Te Kura Kaupapa Mātauranga, Pāpori me Te Whare Tiaki Kararehe. In this role you will:

  • Develop, guide and carry out and/or support the teaching of Te Reo, tikanga Māori and mātauranga Māori content in programmes and courses across the School. 
  • Support academically rich and culturally grounded learning experiences for ākonga.
  • Collaborate with teaching teams, Māori Student Success, Pouwhirinaki, and iwi/hapū stakeholders.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, student learning, assessment, research, and staff capability uplift.

This is a 0.6 FTE part‑time, permanent position based at our Hawke’s Bay Campus and off‑campus learning locations. 

The appointing salary will be negotiated based on skills and relevant experience

He kōrero mōu — About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A high level of skill and knowledge in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga
  • Experience in teaching, curriculum development, and/or supporting Māori‑centred learning (highly desirable).
  • Strong understanding of culturally responsive pedagogy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
  • Ability to guide and support staff in Māori capability development.
  • Confidence engaging with iwi, hapū, community and the wider sector.
