We are looking for a Junior Systems Support Engineer who is passionate about playing their part in a small team supporting infrastructure, users, solving problems and maintaining a range of systems.

About the role
You’ll be part of the Information Systems (IS) team providing day to day IT support services to staff across the organisation. The role involves supporting and maintaining IT hardware, operating systems, approved applications, printers, and related IT equipment, while assisting in maintaining a stable and reliable computing environment.
The role includes workstation deployment and maintenance activities, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, assisting with user support requests, maintaining IS documentation, and coordinating with suppliers for purchasing, maintenance, licensing, and support as required. Exposure to Microsoft and Linux environments, virtualisation platforms, backup systems, and supporting infrastructure technologies will form part of the role.
Your skills and experience
Required skills:
· At least 2+ years’ experience in an IT support or systems support role.
· Good understanding of IT hardware deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
· Experience supporting Windows and Linux operating systems and desktop applications.
· Basic understanding of networking concepts and network-connected devices.
· Exposure to virtualisation technologies such as VMware.
· Understanding of Microsoft services, including Active Directory, file sharing, and the Microsoft 365 platform.
· Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
· Well-developed communication and customer service skills.
· Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
· Willingness to learn and develop technical skills across a broad range of technologies.
· Attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.
Nice to have:
· Exposure to backup technologies such as VEEAM.
· Exposure to automation or configuration management tools such as SaltStack or Ansible.
· Basic scripting knowledge in PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
· Experience with PC assembly, desktop deployment, and application packaging activities.
· Exposure to Linux systems administration.
