The role  

We are currently seeking a confident and motivated team player to join the Policy and Strategy team as an Iwi and Hapū Relationships and Policy Advisor. This is a permanent full-time position located in Palmerston North.

The Strategy and Policy team are looking for someone to provide strategic and technical advice on Iwi Māori policy related matters, to ensure our policy development reflects our Te Tiriti obligations and that iwi and hapū aspirations for natural resource management are met. This role also supports relationships with the region’s iwi and hapū. An understanding of Te Ao Māori and tikanga is essential. 

This role provides a pivotal interface between our Iwi and Hapū Relationships team and our Policy Planning Team. You will also be required to provide reliable advice to management and Council.

About you 

We are looking for a team player and a confident communicator, who is able to build strong relationships with iwi as well as across the organisation. You will require critical and analytical thinking skills and the ability to distil essential information and translate that into technical reports.
