Reporting to the Communications Manager and with close connections to our wider Culture and Community team, operational managers and unions, the purpose of the Internal Communications Advisor is to connect and engage the wider Napier Port team with our business and our strategic objectives. 

The Internal Communications Advisor is responsible for developing and managing the end-to-end delivery of internal communications programmes and initiatives, aligned with our Culture of Care. They will work with colleagues and stakeholders to identify communications opportunities and deliver timely, targeted, creative and effective internal communications that meet defined objectives.

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced communications professional with:

  • 5+ years in (internal) communications role or equivalent consultancy/agency experience, preferably in internal communications within a commercial environment 
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic communications plans, that help drive employee engagement, advocacy and business performance
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of employee communications best-practice, channels, and relevant technologies ( video and/or media production would be desirable) and the ability to implement and deliver these
  • Confidence in working with multiple stakeholders at different levels and providing communications advice and influencing Senior Management 
  • Excellent writing skills – with broad experience in drafting and tailoring communications to internal audiences 
  • Insight or exposure to Health & Safety communications or advocacy is desirable 
  • Proactivity, energy and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage at all levels, from the boardroom to the lunchroom
