About the Job  

We are looking for a highly self-motivated Intermediate to Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Waikato Construction Team.  Joining an established QS team, you may be looking at taking the next step up in your career.  You will be comfortable in a client facing role and be committed to working on projects from the initial estimate, through to building completion.  Liaising with our internal divisions, Project Managers, Site and Commercial teams, you will have opportunities to work on many diverse construction projects.

Skills You Will Need 

Being an integral member of our construction team, you will be helping with tendering activities, preparing budget estimates, managing costs throughout construction, and assisting with presentations to our clients.  Upon contract award your duties will include preparing external claims, processing variations, subcontractor account management, contract administration, final account preparation, reporting and cost reconciliation.  You will be meticulous by nature and will competently produce accurate pricing information and documentation within the required timeframes. 

We are looking for someone with a Quantity Surveying qualification that has:

  • Relevant work experience in a pricing office or in the Contract Administration/Planning/Pricing/estimating function within the commercial building industry 
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, to work to deadlines, and under pressure 
  • Great attention to detail, thorough, self-motivated, and will use initiative 
  • A natural ability to establish and build long term working relationships with colleagues, contractors, consultants and clients  
  • A trade qualification or several years hands-on building experience in New Zealand commercial construction market would be an advantage.
