 Independent Chair – CHASNZ

An opportunity to play a leading role in the future of Health & Safety in New Zealand.

CHASNZ (Construction Health and Safety New Zealand) is a charitable trust. Its mission is to raise health and safety performance across the construction sector, working with industry, government, and partners to help create safer and healthier workplaces. 

CHASNZ is currently looking for a new Independent Chair. 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven governance experience and the ability to guide a high-performing Board.
  • A health & safety mindset and a genuine commitment to worker wellbeing.
  • Sound financial acumen and confidence reading the numbers behind strategy.
  • A strong understanding of how the construction industry works; its pressures, its people, and its pace.
  • A collegial leadership style: collaborative, curious, listening-first, and able to bring stakeholders together.
  • Commercial acumen, including experience in shaping products and taking offerings to market.

Commitment

Six meetings per year, approximately 3 hours each. Board meetings are face to face with the exception of one online meeting per year. Meetings are generally held in Auckland but also Wellington. In addition to Board meeting the role will also include supporting the Chief Executive and representing CHASNZ at events or relevant industry meetings from time to time. This additional time commitments varies but can range from 1-2 days a month.
