We’re looking for a Hydrogen Operations Specialist to support the delivery of Toyota New Zealand’s hydrogen initiatives. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based on-site at our Head Office in Palmerston North.

The role is focused on coordinating and supporting day-to-day operational activities helping ensure hydrogen programmes are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. It’s a hands-on, operational role with a strong focus on coordination, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

What the role involves:

You’ll support a range of hydrogen-related activities, including:

  • Coordinating the day-to-day delivery of hydrogen programme activities 
  • Supporting the end-to-end flow of fuel cells — from ordering through to inventory and  dispatch 
  • Assisting with the planning and on-the-ground delivery of generator activations 
  • Providing operational support to keep the Mirai vehicle fleet running smoothly 
  • Monitoring performance and identifying opportunities for kaizen
  • Building strong working relationships across internal teams, suppliers, and external partners including Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) 

About you:

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working in a fast-evolving space and can keep things organised and moving and brings the following skills and experience:

  • Experience supporting operational, logistics, or coordination activities
  • Confidence working across multiple stakeholders
  • Strong organisation skills and attention to detail
  • Practical problem-solving skills and sound judgement
  • Clear communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience with fleet, asset-based, or technical operations (helpful but not essential)
