Southern Cross North Harbour Hospital is the only private surgical in-patient hospital on the Auckland’s North Shore. North Harbour Hospital has 8 Operating Rooms, a 14 bed Post Anaesthetic Care Unit, a modern well-equipped day stay facility unit and a 70-bed ward which includes a 4-bed intermediate care facility (ICF).
Surgical specialities include General Surgery, Gynaecology, Oral & Maxillofacial surgery, Urology, Orthopaedic surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, Urology, Otolaryngology and Robotic Surgery. In addition to the hospital, the broader North Shore campus is also home to a purpose-built endoscopy suite, on-site cardiology services, cancer care, pharmacy, sports medicine, radiology and more.
Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Housekeeper to join our team at Southern Cross North Harbour Hospital in a 0.7 FTE part-time position. This role works across a 7-day roster, including morning and afternoon shifts, weekends, and public holidays, and plays an important part in creating a positive experience for our patients and supporting the smooth operation of our ward services.
This is a varied and active role with a strong focus on patient meal services and ward support. You'll be responsible for setting up and delivering meals, assisting patients with dietary requirements, preparing light post-operative meals, maintaining pantry areas, monitoring food safety and temperature checks, managing stock and supplies, and ensuring patients have everything they need throughout the day. You'll also support the ward by maintaining linen supplies, restocking PPE, assisting with equipment checks, and helping to maintain a clean, organised environment.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
- Previous experience in housekeeping, hospitality, aged care, or healthcare
- NZQA-recognised Food Safety Certificate would be advantageous
- Experience supporting meal services and an understanding of dietary requirements, preferably within a healthcare environment
- A strong customer service focus and a commitment to providing an exceptional experience for patients and their whānau
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A high level of attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness, food safety, infection prevention, and quality standards
- Sound literacy and numeracy skills, with the ability to accurately complete documentation and records
- Physical capability to perform manual tasks, including lifting meal trays, moving stock, and pushing meal trolleys
- A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and respond to changing priorities
