We are seeking an experienced and compassionate House Leader to lead a dedicated team of Child Wellbeing Support Workers within a home supporting four Tamariki with special needs. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone passionate about providing safe, nurturing, and high-quality care, while supporting and developing staff.

About the Role

As the House Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and smooth operation of the home. You will ensure exceptional care for Tamariki, provide guidance and mentorship to staff, and work collaboratively with specialists to support each child’s wellbeing and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Tamariki receive exceptional care, support, and stability at all times
  • Lead, mentor, and coach Child Wellbeing Support Workers, addressing issues as they arise
  • Support staff to understand and implement individual care and behavioural support plans
  • Ensure all incidents are identified, documented, and reported in a timely manner
  • Coordinate individualised and group activities tailored to each child’s needs
  • Ensure rosters are in place to meet the needs of the home safely and consistently
  • Identify training and development needs to build staff capability and confidence

Key Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience working with children with special needs
  • Strong leadership capability with a coaching and mentoring approach
  • Willingness to take ownership and be held accountable for outcomes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong focus on building respectful, trusting relationships with Tamariki, whānau, staff, and professionals
