We are on the look-out for a Honey Procurement Specialist to join our Apiculture team based in Te Awamutu. Reporting to the National Supplier Relations Manager, this function is responsible for securing a competitive and cost effective supply of quality honey and honey related products, through building long term relationships with external parties to ultimately promote loyalty and trust to Manuka Health within the apiculture sector. The Supplier Relations team are also responsible for overseeing the maturation of manuka honey and the optimisation of batch building to ensure a consistent supply of honey for operational requirements is maintained at favourable blending margins.

Key Responsibilities include:

1. Bulk Honey and Raw Propolis procurement

  • Ensure purchasing of bulk honey and raw propolis is on time and in specification to operational requirements
  • Continued development of wider supplier relationship base, key account management of supply partners and core supply base
  • Negotiation and pricing of raw propolis to deliver in accordance with agreed guidelines
  • Provide industry leadership and stewardship as where/required
  • Manage purchasing cash flow and finance recording to budget guidelines

2. Maintain forecasting of bulk inventory cover

  • Provide feedback loop and market intelligence of key activities and honey and propolis procurement into the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) monthly cycle
  • Ensure any Out of Stocks (OOS) are minimal and replenishment is at a suitable level of cover within agreed guidelines
  • Maintenance of the bulk honey cover chart and weekly procurement and blending KPIs

3. Batch Building of honey

  • Oversite of batch building of honey 
  • Ensure operational plans are reviewed (weekly, fortnightly, quarterly and annually on a rolling basis) 
  • Strive for 100% Right First Time for batch building
  • Maintenance of the bulk drum testing register and in situ testing of batches 
  • Build batches within standard pricing striving for a positive Batch Building Variance 
  • Optimise and deploy inventory in builds and consumption, to ensure continuous improvement of inventory health 

The successful candidate will have:

  •  >3 Years’ experience in the field of Procurement or Supply Chain in FMCG
  • This person must be a self-starter, and a quick learner 
  • Superb communication and negotiation skills
  • A positive attitude and a thirst for personal growth. 
  • Excellent analytical skills and advanced MS Excel skills are required
  • The ability to identify trends and drawing conclusions from vast amounts of data
  • Team player, able to form strong relationships
