Youth Worker – Residential Youth Services

MASH Trust is an innovative leader of support services across the Disability, Mental Health and Social Sectors in the Lower North Island. 

We provide supported living environments for tamariki and rangatahi in the care of Oranga Tamariki and have an opportunity for a passionate and motivated Home Coordinator to join this Team.

The Home Coordinator will lead and manage one of our residential homes based in Palmerston North.  To be successful in this key role you will mentor and inspire our team of support staff so they can provide our people an environment that ensures their individual needs and aspirations are being met. 

You will be responsible for the smooth running of the home, ensuring the needs of others are met by maintaining a high standard of service. Your excellent communication skills and leadership capability will enable you to encourage your team to be successful in their role, providing them with the support and assistance they need.

The Hours: 

The hours of work will be 7am through until 4.10pm Monday to Friday

Skills and experience: 

You will have/be:  

  • Experience working with tamariki and rangitahi in a voluntary or paid capacity
  • Have a commitment to providing safe, quality support to tamariki and rangatahi
  • Have the capability to build relationships within the community 
  • Effective co-ordination and in administration skills.
  • Able to build rapport with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Able to communicate and relate well with people at all levels.
  • Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with people at all levels.
  • Able to work in accordance with the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi 
  • Experience in dealing with challenging behaviours is desirable 
  • A current full driver's licence is required.
