 We are seeking a motivated, innovative, and passionate Health and Wellbeing Lecturer to join our team at the Whanganui campus. This is a part-time, permanent role (0.8 FTE) that requires delivering our New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Social and Community Services) with strand in Mental Health and Addiction Support - Level 4 programme to a diverse group of learners and may be required to teach on other Health and Wellbeing programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver blended learning resources to students enrolled in the mental health and addiction support strand. 
  • Design and provide academic assessments and feedback.
  • Draw on practical knowledge to facilitate learning in a culturally responsive manner.      
  • Manage and increase the array of appropriate off-site placement and learning opportunities for students.
  • Guide students to become confident and responsible graduates. 
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student success and programme quality.

Skills and Attributes

  • Social Services based qualification
  • Relevant industry and/or teaching experience in mental health and addiction support
  • Adult Teaching qualification or equivalent, or ability to work towards 
  • Ability to liaise proactively and positively with placement providers
  • Professional registration is desirable
  • High level negotiation skills and proven ability to reach agreement  
  • Highly credible and reputable in the health and/or education sector
  • Effective communication skills within a multicultural setting 
  • Applicants must hold New Zealand residency or citizenship.

Other Requirements

  • Must have a Full New Zealand driver’s licence.
  • Pre-employment Criminal Convictions Check.
  • Clean from the influences of drugs and alcohol in the workplace at all times.
