We are looking for a dedicated Health Coach to join our Te Ara Waiora Team in our Nurse led clinic in Flaxmere.   

Our clinic is dedicated to improving access to health services for all with no appointments necessary and no cost to whānau.  We have a dedicated team of Registered Nurses and Health Coaches available to help whānau with their immediate health needs with the focus on the prevention of long-term health issues.

About the Role:

As a Health Coach, you will empower whānau to take charge of their health by providing them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to achieve their personal health goals. You’ll work closely with our Clinical team to inspire positive lifestyle changes, proactively manage health conditions, prevent long term health issues and improve their overall well-being. 

The Health Coaches get involved in a wide range of mahi. From working one on one with whānau to presenting to groups or promoting health initiative at public community events.  You may also be asked to tautoko whānau with health appointments including transporting them and organising access to social supports to address those essential needs like kai, warm healthy homes and housing.  

This is a permanent role, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm (40 hours).

  • Professionalism in all aspects of your work, from presentation to practice
  • Commitment to high standards of privacy and confidentiality
  • A current New Zealand Full Driver’s License
  • An understanding of Te Reo and tikanga Māori (or a willingness to learn)

Ideally you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Hauroa/Health, Nutrition, Sport and Recreation or similar field OR
  • Previous experience working in Health Promotion or a Health Educator role 
  • Completion of Recognised Health Coach Training
  • A current First Aid certificate 
  • Experience working in the community
