About The Role: 

McKay is looking for a Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to join the team in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland). Reporting to the National Health and Safety Manager, this role is an opportunity to influence and strengthen safety practices across a respected and growing organisation.  You’ll work closely with our teams across the business to embed practical, effective health and safety solutions while helping drive a resilient, industry-leading safety culture.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop, review, and update HSE policies and procedures to ensure compliance with HSE regulations
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and inspections of the workplace to identify potential hazards
  • Develop and deliver H&S training for employees, including new hire orientation and ongoing training sessions. 
  • Prepare and maintain records of incidents and their causes for regulatory reporting.
  • Develop, facilitate and implement emergency response plans and procedures 
  • Act as a liaison between management and employees on HSE matters 
  • Prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of the H&S plan.

About you

  • A New Zealand recognised H&S related qualification (certificate, diploma, degree). 
  • Relevant professional certifications / accreditations 
  • In-depth knowledge of New Zealand’s HSE regulations and standards, including the H&S at Work Act 2015.
  • Several years of relevant work experience in health and safety management.
  • First aid and CPR certification preferred. 
  • Knowledge in the industrial electrical industry would be desirable. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate employees at all levels 
  • Ability to work independently in diverse working environments. 
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess and mitigate safety risks.
