Northland Toyota is seeking a motivated and organised Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Coordinator / Administration Support person to join our team in Whangārei.

This is a varied and important role within our business, combining responsibility for supporting and maintaining our health, safety and environmental systems with administration support across a range of departments. Key responsibilities include:

Health, Safety & Environmental

  • Maintain and monitor health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and systems 
  • Support compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and internal business standards 
  • Conduct regular HSE workplace inspections, audits and hazard identification activities, and assist with corrective actions 
  • Coordinate and support HSE training, inductions and staff awareness initiatives 
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, reporting and documentation 
  • Support the business in maintaining its Toitū Enviromark Certification 
  • Keep up to date with industry developments, regulatory changes and best practice in health, safety and environmental management 

Administration Support

  • Provide general administrative support across departments as required 
  • Carry out administrative tasks and transactions for NZTA on behalf of our vehicle departments. (Full training will be provided)
  • Support the administration team with day-to-day tasks and provide cover for key duties during leave periods 
  • Assist departmental managers and the CEO with business projects and administrative requirements as needed 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Administration experience in an office environment
  • An interest in health, safety and environmental coordination 
  • A Level 4 Health and Safety qualification or the ability to complete studies towards this qualification
  • Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload 
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • A proactive, positive and reliable approach to work 
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other relevant systems 
  • The ability to work well with people across all areas of the business
