Location: Bay of Plenty - Rotorua, with travel required across campuses
Position type: Part time (0.5FTE), Fixed term (12 months)
Remuneration: $150,000 – $180,000 (full time equivalent, fixed remuneration excluding KiwiSaver)

We have a unique and impactful opportunity for an experienced Strategy and Planning professional to join Toi Ohomai on a fixed-term basis (0.5 FTE for 12 months).
The role will lead the development and implementation of a 5-year strategic plan for Toi Ohomai, including the establishment of a fit‑for‑purpose performance measurement framework and associated reporting tools. This is a time‑bound programme of work intended to be completed by the end of 2026.
Working with the executive leadership team you will lead the shaping of the strategic direction for Toi Ohomai and ensure our decision-making is grounded in meaningful insights, high-quality data, and a strong commitment to growth and ākonga success.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you’ll play a key role in building organisational capability, strengthening strategic alignment, and delivering the tools and frameworks that set Toi Ohomai up for long-term sustainability.
Ngā mahi | Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
· Lead the design, implementation and review of the 5‑year institutional strategic plan aligned to our vision, mission, and long-term goals.
· Work closely with executive leadership and council (when required) to shape the strategic plan and associated documentation and measures.
· Develop a comprehensive performance measurement framework, including dashboards and reporting tools that monitor key institutional measures.
· Provide strategic insights through data analysis, research, and evaluation to support academic and operational decision-making.
· Demonstrate leadership aligned to Toiohomaitanga, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement, wellbeing, and shared purpose.
· Champion Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and educational excellence by integrating these principles into planning, insights, and organisational practice.

You will bring a blend of strategic thinking, analytical expertise, and values-led leadership. You will have:
· Relevant postgraduate level qualification or equivalent experience.
· Proven experience leading strategic planning, performance measurement, or organisational insights functions.
· Strong capability in developing and applying data-informed insights to support decision making.
· Demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, with experience applying te ao Māori, tikanga or mātauranga Māori within workplace contexts.
