About the role

We’re looking for a Head of Security to lead and grow Catalyst’s security capability. This role is focused on security fundamentals, risk management and operational reliability. You’ll be responsible for ensuring security practices and controls are clear, consistently applied and fit for how Catalyst operates and delivers work.

Working closely with delivery teams, technical leaders and internal stakeholders - you’ll provide clear ownership of security, reduce organisational risk and help establish disciplined, scalable ways of working while managing and supporting the security team and setting clear priorities and direction.

This role can be based in our Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch offices.

About you

You are an experienced security professional with a strong background in information and cyber security, with a practical approach to risk. You’re comfortable owning outcomes, making sound judgement calls and bringing structure to complex technical environments. You value collaboration and take pride in building security practices that support delivery.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Experience in a senior security role with accountability for security practices and outcomes
  • Strong knowledge of information security, cyber security and risk management
  • Experience working in modern technical environments including cloud and open source
  • A practical understanding of security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NZISM or NIST, or similar
  • Confidence providing clear, pragmatic advice to senior stakeholders
  • A calm approach and a strong sense of accountability

This role will suit someone who enjoys taking clear ownership of security and being accountable for how it works in practice.

At Catalyst, we care more about finding the right person than ticking every box. If this role interests you and you believe your experience and approach would add value, even if you don’t meet every requirement listed, we encourage you to apply!
