About the role

We are committed to driving innovation and delivering exceptional banking experiences to our customers. As a key player in the financial sector, we continuously evolve our systems to stay ahead of the curve. To support this, we are looking for an experienced Head of Enterprise Architecture to join our Technology leadership team and shape the future of our bank’s technology landscape.

This role will be responsible for designing and implementing enterprise-wide technology frameworks that support both business and technology strategies. You will partner with key stakeholders across the business, providing direction and thought leadership to drive transformation initiatives and future-proof the bank’s digital capabilities. This is a management-level position with significant influence over architectural decisions and the bank’s technological roadmap, ensuring technology solutions are scalable, secure, and align with the organisation’s vision.

Who are you?

You will demonstrate strong experience with banking systems, expertise in cloud computing, API-led integration, microservices architecture, and digital transformation initiatives. This will enable you to develop and maintain the overall enterprise architecture vision and roadmap that supports the bank’s business goals.

Your solid understanding of emerging technology trends such as AI, blockchain, open banking, and fintech will ensure the bank is leveraging these technologies.

Knowledge of security and compliance standards will ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards, such as those from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and APRA. You will have the ability to develop close working relationship with risk, compliance, and cybersecurity teams, and to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.

In this role, you can also expect to:

  • Develop and maintain the overall enterprise architecture vision and roadmap.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and resilient technology solutions.
  • Partner with executive leadership, including Board, and business unit heads, to ensure alignment of IT initiatives with business objectives.

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • At least 10+ years of experience in IT, with 5+ years in enterprise architecture leadership roles within the banking or financial services sector.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing enterprise-wide technology strategies and industry standard frameworks in a large organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of banking regulations, cybersecurity best practices, and compliance standards in New Zealand.
