Contract: Permanent, Part Time (32hrs pw)

Hours of work: 32 hours per week, days negotiable, and one in five rotating weekends (11 hours)

We are seeking a keen, experienced Head Vet to help with overseeing and mentoring our wonderful veterinary team.

In this role, you will be providing leadership to the veterinary clinic team ensuring our high professional standards of veterinary care and hygiene are continued for all animals presented to, and under the care of, the SPCA. 

You will oversee and manage the team of SPCA Veterinarians, provide leadership and in-house clinical support, and provide procedural and clinical consultative support for the hospital, centre, and organisation.

What we need from you 

Our ideal candidate will have:

· Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Qualified Veterinarian

· Senior surgical expertise 

· Proven leadership skills; and the drive to be able to inspire, support and drive our Veterinary Team to be the best they can be.

· Proven experience in clinic/practice management, organising operations, duties, etc.

· An ability to share your experience and thoughts in group meetings 

· Excellent personal communication skills, including face-to-face, email, video conferencing and on the telephone

· Confidence and experience in handling a wide variety of animals (domestic, un-socialised and wildlife)

· Confidence and experience in making difficult decisions 

· Experience in Shelter medicine is preferred, but not essential 

· A sound understanding of, and empathy with, the goals and values of the SPCA
