About the Role
A rare opportunity has become available for an experienced and passionate Head Teacher to join the established team at BestStart Te Atatu Peninsula.
Our centre is known for its strong, long-standing kaiako team, positive culture and meaningful connections with our local community. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our 3–4-year-old room and work alongside experienced educators who are committed to delivering high-quality outcomes for tamariki.
As Head Teacher, you’ll provide strong curriculum leadership, mentor and support kaiako, build meaningful relationships with whānau, and create an engaging learning environment that prepares children for their next steps into school.
We’re looking for a confident and authentic leader who is passionate about teaching and learning, inspires others and enjoys creating opportunities for children to grow, explore and thrive.

This is a permanent position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for a natural leader with a strong understanding of programme planning, assessment, pedagogy and curriculum, along with a genuine drive for continuous improvement.
You’ll also have
- BEd/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE) and current Full Teacher Registration
- Strong knowledge of programme planning, pedagogy and curriculum
- Sound knowledge of current ECE Regulations and Te Whāriki, with a strong focus on compliance
- A passion for quality teaching and learning
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- A collaborative approach and commitment to developing others
- A focus on supporting children’s confidence, independence and transition to school
