Join a Centre Where Tamariki Are Thoughtfully and Lovingly Nurtured

BestStart Silverstream is searching for a passionate, qualified, and registered teacher to step into the role of Head Teacher in our beautiful infant room. If you’re a warm, confident leader who thrives in a collaborative, relationship‑focused environment, this could be your next step.

About Us

Our vision is simple: Thoughtfully and lovingly nurtured.   We provide a calm, sensory‑rich environment where our youngest tamariki feel safe to explore, learn, and form trusting relationships with their teachers.

Our infant space is filled with natural light and intentionally designed to support unhurried, respectful care. Inspired by RIE/Pikler philosophies, our team works closely with whānau to ensure every child’s individual rhythms and needs are honoured.

We are deeply connected to our community—visiting local parks and cafés, building relationships with nearby schools, and supporting smooth transitions through our Set for School programme.

Why Choose BestStart?

At BestStart, we are committed to being a progressive, responsive leader in the ECE sector. We value our teachers and recognise the incredible impact they have on children’s lives. Our benefits include:

  • Full Pay Parity – BestStart has opted in!
  • Discounted childcare
  • Subsidised health insurance, free flu vaccinations, and EAP counselling
  • Leadership development programmes for current and aspiring leaders
  • Multiple career pathways with personalised support
  • $2000 referral bonus for referring a qualified teacher*
  • One week of additional leave after 10 years of service

About the Role

As Head Teacher, you will lead a dedicated team of educators in our infant room, fostering a culture of curiosity, connection, and high‑quality care. You’ll guide programme planning, mentor your team, and help shape a learning environment where tamariki feel empowered to explore at their own pace.

This is a permanent, full‑time position, Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week between 7am–6pm.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a natural leader who shares our values and vision, someone who is reflective, relationship‑driven, and committed to delivering exceptional care and education.

You will bring:

  • A BEd/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE or Primary) and current teacher certification
  • Strong knowledge of programme planning, pedagogy, and curriculum
  • A solid understanding of ECE regulations, Te Whāriki, and compliance expectations
  • A genuine passion for teaching, learning, and continuous growth

Join Our Whānau

At BestStart, you’ll be part of a supportive, innovative team that celebrates success, big and small. Bring your unique strengths, your heart for teaching, and your commitment to making a difference. If you’re passionate about nurturing tamariki and leading with purpose, you’ll feel right at home here.
