We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head Teacher to lead our vibrant Preschool Tuhura Room, fostering a rich, engaging environment where tamariki can thrive. This role involves guiding a dedicated team, supporting curriculum planning, and building strong relationships with whānau.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead with impact by shaping centre priorities and strategic goals. 
  • Advocate for tamariki, ensuring equitable outcomes aligned with professional standards. 
  • Build strong partnerships with families/whānau to support individual learning.
  • Role model our values, inspiring and motivating your team. 
  • Collaborate to deliver a localised curriculum based on Te Whāriki. 
  • Recognise learner achievements and continuously improve teaching practices.
  • Foster a culture of growth through coaching and engagement in the Professional Growth Cycle. 
  • Demonstrate curiosity, courage, resilience, and agility. 
  • Embed culturally responsive practices grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Ensure full compliance with legal, regulatory, and health & safety requirements. 
  • Promote and role model health & safety, complete required training, report risks, and comply with all relevant regulations.

Role Requirements

  • Recognised ECE qualification with full certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with tamariki in an ECE environment.
  • Understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Person Responsible within a centre/service.
  • Ability to respond effectively to diverse cultures and provide inclusive teaching practices.
  • Commitment to maintaining professional, respectful relationships.
  • Passionate, self-motivated, innovative, and reflective approach to teaching and leadership.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to think beyond boundaries and continuously improve.
