We are seeking a passionate, Qualified and Registered Teacher to join our close‑knit team as Head Teacher in our Pukeko preschool room, supporting our energetic and capable 2–5‑year‑old tamariki. About BestStart Parklands
Our centre sits directly across from Parkview School, making us a convenient and connected part of the community. We are a smaller centre with an experienced, friendly team that values strong relationships and regular excursions to enrich learning.

The principle of tuakana–teina is central to our preschool room. With children aged 2 years to school age, older tamariki naturally guide and support younger peers, creating a rich, reciprocal learning environment grounded in Māori values.

About the Role
- Permanent, full‑time position (40 hours, Monday to Friday)
- Lead our spacious, well‑resourced preschool room
- Support tamariki aged 2 years to school age
- Foster exploration, discovery, and collaborative learning
- Champion tuakana–teina relationships and child‑led experiences
What We’re Looking For
A natural leader who shares our values and vision, with a strong understanding of programme planning, assessment, and high‑quality practice.
You will bring:
- BEd/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE or Primary) and current Teacher Certification
- Strong knowledge of programme planning, pedagogy, and curriculum
- Solid understanding of ECE Regulations, Te Whāriki, and compliance expectations
- A genuine passion for teaching, learning, and supporting tamariki to thrive
