BestStart Northwood is looking for a passionate, dedicated Qualified and Registered Teacher to join our supportive and energetic team as Head Teacher in our Preschool (2–3 year olds) room.

Located in the heart of the Belfast community, our purpose-built centre features three inspiring learning spaces and an amazing outdoor environment designed to spark curiosity, exploration, and meaningful play. We also enjoy strong connections with the local community, including working closely with Belfast School.

About the Role

  • Permanent, full-time position (40 hours, Monday to Friday)
  • Lead our busy and vibrant preschool room
  • Guide a team of experienced teachers
  • Foster a positive, engaging environment for 2–3 year olds

You’ll be a confident, reflective, and passionate teacher who:

  • Builds strong, meaningful relationships with children, whānau, and colleagues

  • Brings enthusiasm, creativity, and a learner-focused mindset
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills
  • Is confident working with toddlers in a busy classroom

We’re seeking a natural leader with a solid understanding of programme planning, assessment, and curriculum, along with a genuine drive to grow and inspire others.

Role Requirements

  • BEd/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE or Primary)
  • Current Teacher Certification
  • Strong understanding of Te Whāriki, ECE regulations, and quality practice
  • Proven skills in programme planning, pedagogy, and assessment
  • Leadership experience (preferred)
