If you’re seeking a centre where relationships matter, where your leadership is valued, and where community connection is at the heart of everything we do, you’ll feel right at home with us.

About BestStart Highfield

Our centre is truly a “home away from home” — a place where tamariki feel safe, supported, and inspired to explore. We build strong, genuine partnerships with parents, whānau, and our wider community, and we honour the unique cultural identities of every child who becomes part of our whānau.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

We’re committed to being a progressive, responsive leader in ECE. Our teachers are at the centre of everything we do, and we’re proud to offer:

  • Full Pay Parity
  • Discounted childcare
  • Subsidised health insurance, free flu vaccinations, and EAP support
  • Leadership pathways and professional development opportunities
  • Multiple career pathways and strong mentoring
  • $2000 referral bonus for referring a qualified teacher*
  • An extra week of leave after 10 years of service

About the Role

This is a permanent, full‑time position (40 hours, Monday–Friday).

Our Kaitiaki preschooler room supports tamariki aged 3.5 to 5+ as they grow in confidence and independence. With a strong focus on school readiness through our Set for School initiative, you’ll help shape smooth, positive transitions to primary school. You’ll lead a passionate team dedicated to nurturing lifelong learners through meaningful relationships, rich experiences, and a well‑resourced environment.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a natural leader who brings warmth, vision, and a commitment to high‑quality practice. You will have:

  • A BEd/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE or Primary) and a current practising certificate
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy, and programme planning
  • A solid understanding of ECE Regulations, Te Whāriki, and compliance
  • A passion for delivering exceptional education and care
  • A collaborative, supportive leadership style
