Are you an inspiring and experienced early childhood leader who is passionate about high-quality preschool education? BestStart Delta Ave is seeking a Head Teacher for our Preschool - a motivated leader ready to guide, support, and empower both tamariki and teachers to thrive.

About the role:
As Head Teacher of our Preschool, you’ll provide strong educational and people leadership, fostering a positive, reflective, and collaborative team culture. You’ll lead the delivery of rich, play-based learning experiences that support children aged 2–5 years to grow in confidence, independence, and curiosity.

Working closely with whānau, centre leadership, and your teaching team, you’ll model best practice, mentor and develop kaiako, and ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and compliance are consistently met. This role is ideal for a calm, organised, and passionate leader who enjoys empowering others and making a lasting impact.

This is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours, Monday–Friday).

What we’re looking for:
We’re searching for a dedicated and motivated teacher who aligns with our values and is committed to providing high-quality education and care.

  • B.Ed / Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE) and current teacher registration/certification
  • Strong understanding of programme planning, pedagogy, and curriculum
  • A high impact leader who positively influences centre priorities, and strategic planning. 
  • Passion for play-based, child-led learning in a preschool environment
  • Sound knowledge of ECE Regulations, Te Whāriki, and compliance
  • A positive, proactive attitude and strong communication skills
  • A team-focused approach with a desire to grow and develop professionally
