BestStart Cornwall Street is seeking a passionate and inspiring Qualified and Registered Teacher to lead our nurturing infant and toddler spaces, Tere Waka and Kāinga Wātea, as our new Head Teacher working alongside our 0-3 year old tamariki.

About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

As Head Teacher, you will play a key leadership role within our centre, supporting and mentoring your teaching team while ensuring high-quality learning outcomes for our youngest tamariki. You'll bring energy, vision, and a commitment to continuous improvement, helping to create a positive and inspiring environment for children, whānau, and kaiako alike.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a collaborative and confident leader who shares our values and has a passion for supporting children, teachers, and families to thrive.

You will have:

  • A Bachelor of Education/Diploma in Teaching (ECE) Level 7 or equivalent
  • Current New Zealand Teacher Certification
  • Strong knowledge of programme planning, assessment, pedagogy, and curriculum
  • Sound understanding of current ECE Regulations and Te Whāriki
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of compliance and quality practice
  • Passion for teaching, learning, and continuous professional growth
  • Proven leadership capabilities or a desire to step into a leadership role
