BestStart Barrington is seeking a passionate and dedicated Qualified and Registered Teacher to join our energetic, close-knit team as our new Head Teacher for our under 2 tamariki.

About the Role

This is a fixed-term position (40 hours, Monday–Friday) covering parental leave from August 2026 to August 2027.

You will be working across our Makomako and Kererū rooms, supporting our under 2 tamariki:

  • Makomako Rūma (Infants): A calm, nurturing space where pēpi feel safe and secure. Our Kaiako follow individual routines and prioritise strong, trusting relationships with whānau.
  • Kererū Rūma (Toddlers): An environment that encourages curiosity and independence, giving tamariki time and space to explore while supporting their emotional wellbeing and self-regulation.

About You

We are looking for a natural leader who shares our values and vision, with a strong understanding of programme planning, assessment, and a passion for growth.

You will also bring:

  • BEd/Diploma in Teaching (Level 7 ECE) and current Teacher Certification
  • Strong knowledge of pedagogy, planning, and curriculum
  • Sound understanding of ECE Regulations and Te Whāriki, with a commitment to compliance
  • A genuine passion for delivering high-quality teaching and learning
