Hauora Administrator (Relief cover) 

We are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated applicants who would like to be a key part of our busy, Primary Care Medical Practice.  

Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga, is a whānau-focused, Iwi mandated, kaupapa Māori health and social services organisation. With over 40 years experience operating our local community, we are dedicated to supporting whānau me hapori in achieving their aspirations and overall well-being.

Hauora, our Medical Centre is based at our large site in Orchard Road, Hastings.  As a Casual Administrator, your role will involve providing efficient and effective administration and reception support to our Medical team and Dental service.   

We are looking for candidates who are available to provide casual cover when our permanent workforce are on leave.  We are looking for cover on any given day - Monday to Friday and our busiest times are between the hours of 8.30am to 2.30pm.  This role would ideally suit a person looking to semi-retire or reduce your hours of mahi but still want to work regularly.  

Reporting to the Team Leader – Administration, the administration role is an important part of our integrated model of care that we use in our practice. Each Wananga Ita team consists of clinical and non-clinical staff, working together to provide comprehensive care for our whānau.  

You will receive full training in the role and the systems we use.  You will also work together with other supportive team members.

What we do:

- Customer service and reception duties

- Back up support to our Call Centre and the Scheduling Administrator roles

- Any other admin tasks required


Ideal candidates will have:

-  Experience in administration in the Primary care sector

- Knowledge of DHB, Ministry of Health, Primary Health Care systems 

- Computer literate with Microsoft Office, Indici, Titanium Patient Management systems (or other databases)

- Tertiary qualification in Business Administration or previous administration experience


You must also have:

- Excellent Communications skills – verbal and written

- The ability to build rapport and whānaungataunga with clients and de-escalate when required

- Empathy for those who are unwell in our community

- Some knowledge of Te Reo and tikanga practice

-  The ability to prioritise workload effectively

- A good work ethic - reliable and punctual

- Respect for Confidentiality and Privacy requirements 

- Current First Aid certificate (ideally or we can support you to get this)

- A Current Full Drivers license
