Reporting to the GM People, Capability & Engagement, this 12-month fixed-term role provides both strategic and hands-on HR partnership across diverse business units. You will coach leaders, strengthen people leadership capability, and guide fair, consistent, and legally compliant HR practice.

From performance, development, workforce planning, and recruitment support through to employment relations guidance and change management, this role offers the variety and influence of a true end-to-end HR business partnering position.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Building trusted relationships with leaders to understand workforce needs and shape people priorities.
  • Providing coaching, tools, and frameworks to enhance leadership capability and team culture.
  • Supporting performance, goal setting, development planning, engagement surveys, and annual HR cycles.
  • Contributing to workforce planning, talent pipelines, and recruitment activities.
  • Advising on employment law, collective agreements, and managing ER cases with professionalism and fairness.
  • Helping guide organisational change, consultation processes, communications, and transitions.
  • Supporting employee engagement initiatives and wellbeing programmes.
  • Ensuring high-quality HR documentation, reporting, and system upkeep (e.g., BambooHR).

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in Senior HR Advisory or HR Business Partner roles.
  • Strong employment relations capability and confidence managing complex people matters.
  • Experience working within unionised and/or operational or safety-critical environments.
  • In-depth understanding of NZ employment legislation and collective agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and build trusted relationships at all levels.
  • Experience supporting change, workforce planning, and leadership development.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic operation
  • Experience with HRIS platforms such as BambooHR and Culture Amp is a bonus.
