HR Advisor

If you are an HR professional who is passionate about kaupapa Māori approaches in HR and supporting positive organisational outcomes, then this is the role for you.  

Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga (TToH) is seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join our Tāngata – People & Performance Group. This is an exciting opportunity for a experienced HR practitioner to join our HR Advisory team supporting our business across the full remit of HR services.

About the Role

As an HR Advisor, you will play an integral part of our team, contributing to the delivery of operational HR initiatives. This role will work closely with our Team Managers supporting workforce strategies, developing management capability and driving operational HR excellence. 

Naturally you will demonstrate HR experience and capability across the full remit of HR service delivery.  You will have a positive, can-do attitude with demonstrated ability to foster meaningful working relationships across an assigned portfolio of Team Managers. 

Key responsibilities include

  • Coaching our managers through recruitment and remuneration processes.
  • Managing employment relations and supporting business change as appropriate. 
  • Develop and implement HR frameworks, policies and kaupapa-aligned practices
  • Support workforce planning and provide HR data and insights to inform decision‑making
  • Uphold Te Ao Māori approaches and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles within HR practice

About You

We are looking for someone who is confident, collaborative, and ready to hit the ground running. You will already be an experienced HR practitioner with a solid foundation in HR practices, recruitment, employment law and compliance.  You will bring both expertise and heart with a commitment to uphold our values and work in a Kaupapa Māori way. 

We are looking for someone who has:

  • 5+ years generalist HR experience, preferably within health and social services sector
  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources
  • An understanding of NZ employment legislation and best practice
  • Outcome-focused, strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent relationship‑building, communication and coaching skills
  • A commitment to tikanga and Te Reo Māori and is comfortable working in a kaupapa Māori environment
  • Strong analytical capability and reporting using HR data and insights to help inform decisions
  • Proficient in MS Office and HR systems
