We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Advisor to join our People & Safety team. This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys balancing strategic actions with day-to-day operational support across a diverse group of businesses. 

Working closely with senior leaders and managers, you will provide trusted HR advice and guidance while taking ownership of key people initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to influence recruitment, employee engagement, retention, remuneration, and workforce planning across a growing group. From supporting senior recruitment processes and leading employee relations matters to implementing retention initiatives and driving continuous improvement across people systems, you will play a key role in shaping the employee experience. 

This is a full-time role based at our head office in Kennington, Invercargill, with regular interaction across multiple business units and locations.
 

Key responsibilities will include:

  •  Supporting senior and specialist recruitment processes. 
  •  Providing employee relations advice and coaching leaders through a range of employment matters. 
  •  Leading and supporting workplace investigations, disciplinary processes, and conflict resolution. 
  •  Supporting retention and employee engagement strategies. 
  •  Reviewing HR policies, procedures, and employment documentation to ensure compliance and best practice. 
  •  Supporting remuneration reviews and talent mapping. 
  •  Managing and continuously improving time and attendance systems and workforce planning activities
  •  Preparing HR reports to provide insights to support business decision-making. 
  •  Contributing to HR projects, events, and improvement initiatives.

Our ideal candidate will have: 

  •  A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Employment Relations, Business, or a related discipline. 
  •  Previous experience in a HR Advisor, HR Business Partner, or similar generalist HR role. 
  •  Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and HR best practice. 
  •  Experience managing employee relations matters and workplace investigations. 
  •  Proven recruitment experience, ideally including senior or specialist appointments. 
  •  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to work with people at all levels. 
  •  Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. 
  •  A high level of discretion, professionalism, and sound judgement. 
  •  Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting and presenting people data.
