Our role at Antarctica New Zealand is to support world-leading science and environmental protection in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean - including the operation of Scott Base, management of logistics to, from and within Antarctica and raising of public awareness regarding the global significance of the continent.
Mō te mahi | About the role - What you’ll be doing
As General Manager Antarctic Operations, you will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and sustainable delivery of New Zealand’s Antarctic programme—supporting science, protecting the environment, and maintaining our national presence in one of the most challenging environments on Earth.
This is an important leadership role with us, working at executive level, providing strategic direction, governance, and assurance across all Antarctic operations, while leading a high-performing and deeply committed team. Key accountabilities will be:
• Leading end-to-end Antarctic operations and logistics
• Embedding a strong safety and environmental culture
• Overseeing seasonal planning and operational delivery
• Partnering with NZDF and international Antarctic programmes
• Supporting delivery of major programmes including Scott Base redevelopment

The role is based in our Christchurch office.
The role will require regular travel to Antarctica which will require medical via an independent medical assessor.
