Future Director Scots College
Scots College is a co-educational, Presbyterian, independent day and boarding school in Wellington comprising Years 1 to 13. It currently has ~1,140 students.
It is governed by a Board of Governors voted in by the members of Scots College Incorporated (a group of mostly collegians and others that have a strong interest in the affairs of the College).
The Board also would like to appoint two Future Directors to provide a wider, especially younger person’s, perspective to governance of the College.
The roles are for two to three years, and we intend that benefits are symbiotic: the Future Directors gain governance experience and the Board gains insights and perspectives it might otherwise not have.
The essential and only requirements are an enthusiasm and commitment to education and, more specifically, the College and its purpose of educational excellence, developing all-round character and, as best we can, equipping students for life as balanced, compassionate, motivated, and socially aware young people. We expect that one successful applicant will be a Scots collegian, but not necessarily both. Otherwise, the only criteria, other than as described above, is that the applicant is less than 30 years old, give or take. No prior governance experience is required. The position is unpaid. Board meetings
The board meets ten times annually in Wellington and meetings generally run for 2 – 3 hours. An additional 2 hours should be allocated for preparation. The successful applicant will also serve on one sub-committee; the Campus, Finance or the People, Governance & Strategy Committee
