We’ve been successful in securing funding for two Freedom Camping and Open Space Ambassadors over the Summer period if you love engaging with people, and are passionate about what the Horowhenua district has to offer, this could be the perfect role for you. To succeed in this role you will enjoy meeting people, and be confident to have discussions with the public on a range of issues, as well as communicating !
If you’re all about engaging with people, and are passionate about what the Horowhenua role has to offer, then be one of our Ambassadors! You will be required to travel (vehicle provided) throughout the beautiful Horowhenua district to support campers, through education of camping requirements and the promotion of attractions and activities on offer.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
* Promotion and public education related to Freedom Camping
* Compliance of Freedom Camping rules in Horowhenua
* Community presence out in the district over the summer months in areas known to be busy and have a number of activities converging (with the potential for conflicts),
These areas include Beach areas, like Foxton Beach (Pinewood Road/Estuary end, and Foxton Beach near Surf Club). HDC areas for camping (e.g. Kimberley Reserve, Parakawhai Reserve). Busy public spaces (e.g. Levin Adventure Park, Levin Village Green etc.)

This is a full time role, however we would be open to negotiating the possibility of a part time job share scenario. Hours are also flexible and will involve weekends and some evenings

Effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to customer service and willingness to and capability for working with a wide range of people within and outside the organisation.
Relevant experience in dealing with conflict (compliance and enforcement experience is desirable)
Effective dispute and conflict mediation skills
A full driver license, however a restricted license may be considered
