Food Services Team Leader

About the role

As the leader for both Enliven’s Brightwater and Willard kitchens in Palmerston North, you can expect busy and varied days with a supportive team to get the job done.

The role primarily provides leadership to kitchen staff. The Brightwater and Willard kitchen teams are made up of10 staff, and you will be responsible for inducting new staff, appraisals of current staff and ensuring that your team is equipped to provide high levels of service as the standard.

You will be accountable for the day-to-day running of the kitchen to provide nutritious meals based on a six week Summer and Winter menuand ensuring that key tasks are completed each shift. You will also ensure that resources are managed in a cost-effective manner, as well as budgeting and reducing wastage.

You will have knowledge in and experience in practicing food safety regulations, ensure that hygiene standards are upheld and the kitchen and its products are safe.

About you

In addition to the above pre-requisites, you will have:

  • City and Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NZQA 75/1 and 75/2, or certificate in hospitality level 4
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in aged care
  • Excellent leadership skills 
  • Experience cooking for a variety of dietary requirements including modified meals 
  • Skilled in baking and the presentation of food
  • Computer competency
  • Some flexibility is required dependent on events and special occasions
