Food Security Service
Auckland City Mission is proud to introduce the newly named Food Security Service, aiming to deliver our vision of an Aotearoa that is food secure for all. Our service seeks to provide support for those accessing food, ensuring dignity is upheld and shame eliminated. The Food Security team play a pivotal role in providing emergency food support to individuals and families in crisis, as well as completing assessments to offer internal and external referrals to other appropriate service providers.
As Food Procurement Lead you will work closely with the Food Security Manager, forging ways towards delivering our vision efficiently, cost effectively and sustainably. Your objectives will require two phases. The first phase will be to review current food supplier relationships, ordering systems, and distribution process to determine if it is effective and fit for purpose and identify the Missions ongoing requirements. You will then recommend and take lead on implementing new more beneficial ways of working to reduce overall food spend across the Mission’s various services and work towards the vision of providing quality, appropriate food choices for people accessing meals and parcels.
To be successful in this position you will demonstrate experience in reviewing, planning, recommending and successfully delivering, strategic organisational wide change. Your ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams to reach a common goal will ensure the Missions ongoing success. You will be proactive, self-directed and have the stamina to remain focused on delivering outcomes. In addition you will;
· Be tertiary qualified in business, logistics, procurement or other relevant field.
· Have excellent relationship building skills
· Significant experience working at a senior level
· Understand the food industry and its complexities
· Be passionate about social justice and an advocate for change.
· Ideally have previous experience working in a community focussed or charitable organisation that supports vulnerable people.
