We’re seeking a proactive and hands-on Fleet Maintenance Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis (20–25 hours per week). This role is essential to keeping our small fleet of trucks and pressure cleaning equipment safe, compliant, and operational. You'll be responsible for assisting with truck COFs, basic maintenance, and auditing operational equipment stored in the vehicles.

This is a great opportunity for a semi-retired or multi-skilled person with solid mechanical know-how and a practical mindset. No formal technical qualifications are required, but confidence working independently with tools, machinery, and vehicle checks is a must.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate COF (Certificate of Fitness) bookings and inspections for company vehicles.
  • Perform basic mechanical checks and assist with minor maintenance tasks (e.g., oil top-ups, tyre pressure, battery checks).
  • Audit and maintain on-board operational equipment (e.g., hoses, pumps, pressure systems).
  • Identify and report faults or wear-and-tear before they become issues.
  • Keep maintenance records and checklists up to date.
  • Liaise with external mechanics, compliance inspectors, and the wider operations team.
  • Ensure vehicles and equipment meet NZTA compliance and safety standards.

Skills & Experience

  • Practical experience with vehicles or machinery (professional or personal).
  • Confident working independently, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communicator with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Comfortable using checklists and basic digital records.
  • NZ driver’s licence essential (Class 2 licence a bonus but not required).
